The Port of Harwich is located a few minutes’ drive to the northeast of the town centre, on the south side of the River Stour.
The port is well linked by road and rail to all major cities in Britain and to London’s major international airports by a drive of 1 to 2 hours.

Buses 20 and 20A run frequently from the ferry terminal. The local buses service the port, the Dovercourt area and Harwich town centre. Colchester and Clacton are also served by these local buses, and there are less frequent rural services available.

If you are driving, regardless of your starting point, be sure to keep on the A120 and follow the signs for Harwich. When you approach Harwich, you will see signs for the Harwich International Port.
From the M11, exit at Junction 8, which is signposted Bishops Stortford, Stansted Airport, and join the A120 eastbound.
From the M25, join the A12 at Junction 28, which is signposted Chelmsford, and then join the A120 at Colchester (after about 48 km / 30 miles).
From the A14, take the A12 at Ipswich and then join the A120 at Colchester.
