Harwich ferry routes connect Harwich with Denmark and Holland, with regularly scheduled service to the ports of Esbjerg and the Hook of Holland.

There is also a local, seasonal service linking Ha’penny Pier in Harwich to Shotley and Felixstowe as well as a water taxi service.

Service is available three to four times weekly to Esbjerg, Denmark. It’s a 16-hour overnight journey, and the days of departure vary.
Esbjerg, in the Ribe region of Denmark, is the capital of West Jutland and is near some of the most spectacular sand dunes in the country. The ferry terminal facilities include two cafés, a shop specialising in local products, newspapers and snacks, and a passenger lounge. Disabled passengers will find wheelchair access to all of the terminal’s areas. In the town centre, there’s a variety of cafés, restaurants, pubs and specialty shops, along with a salt water aquarium and museums.

There are multiple crossings every day between Harwich and the Hook of Holland, operated by Stena Line. The sailing duration is approximately 3 hours, 45 minutes on the Stena HSS and 6 hours, 15 minutes on the daytime superferry and the overnight ferry.

The Hook of Holland, a district of Rotterdam, located on the North Sea, is less than 80 km / 50 miles from Amsterdam. At the ferry terminal, there are a number of facilities including a café-bar, ATM machines and special needs facilities for disabled passengers.

The newly restored M/S Brightingsea has re-inaugurated its service, providing crossings from Ha’penny Pier, Harwich to Shotley and Felixstowe. Normally, service commences in April, running on weekends only until May, at which time daily service is available until about mid-September. The service is also dependent on weather conditions. The trip from Harwich to Shotley is approximately 10 minutes and the trip from Harwich to Felixstowe is about 15 minutes. A water taxi service is also available.
